Your passion and how it is perceived by others Michael Christopher
michael@guitarinstructorsguild.com
www.guitarinstructorsguild.com The first {~step~thing} I had to take was to{~ figure out~decide what was/is }, and take my passion and {~whatever~my} talent and then start branding it; all while continuing to teach lessons: For us, that passion is playing and writing on my guitar. The first step of course is to get students/customers. Without a good customer base you {~won’t~will not} get recognition, followed, talked about, and importantly, make any money. Here is the formula: STUDENTS=DOLLARS It is not rocket science.
I soon began to {~understand~realize} that if I took my passion (music, guitar, and teaching others), and combine it with good business decisions and a good business {~plan~model}, I would attract those customers that are drawn to what I have to offer; they are even willing to pay top dollar for my skill and expertise. This is when I started to realize the power, personal freedom, and happiness. It is only then that a person starts to really live when they do what makes them happy all the while helping others along the way. This should perhaps be the mission statement of each of us as {~instructor’s~teachers}. If we {~in fact~really} love what we do and {~enjoy~love} helping others, then not only will we have impact on the world around us, our businesses and relationships will grow and prosper. Who do you give your business to if given the choice? The person whom you have no relationship with; just another employee serving you or the person who interacts with you and shows genuine concern for you and your needs? Here it is again, not rocket science, Good customer/personal relationships=good business=good relationships=growing business=growing $$$ Do not misunderstand me, it is not about how much money I can {~make~get}, it is about how many relationships I can create so that my business will grow and {~prosper~be successful}. What is my business? People and playing guitar. It is {~important~crucial} for any business to market themselves to attract customers. How will you do it? Why does anyone go into business in the first place? Personal satisfaction? Personal freedom? To make money? To leave a legacy? To develope relationships and a customer base? Just because?
These are all valid I suppose, but as{~instructor’s~teachers} we must reflect and decide our reasons for doing what we do because believe it or not it will have impact on our students and others around us; {~thus~therefore} affecting our business and growth. Hate what you do? You better believe that everyone around you knows you are unhappy because you are. {~Love~Enjoy} what you do? How then can you not be infectious to those around you ? Drawing them in because you have a joy, passion, and happiness for what we are doing. We must consider these things in my opinion if we are to teach, and guide others. As instructors, regardless of field, is that not why we want to instruct? Michael Christopher Christopher

Learning English online can be a very economical and effective way to learn the language. There are numerous websites and software programs that can help you use the computer to learn English. However, you could be wasting your money if you do not find an online English school that has the right properties to help you succeed.

Focuses on Immersion

One feature to look for as you look for a place to learn English online is a focus on immersion. The online teacher should speak in English at all times, using visuals to help you understand what you are hearing. Whenever possible, conversations about schoolwork should be held in English. The site itself should contain a significant amount of English text. The more you are exposed to the language, the better you will learn it, so an immersion approach is essential.

Taught by Real Native Speakers

The best English school is one that is taught by native English speakers. Just because you are learning online doesn’t mean that you cannot be taught by a native English speaker. In fact, this is something you should look for when looking for a program to use. If there is no main teacher, make sure that the program includes recordings or videos of native English speakers. This will help you learn proper pronunciation of the words you are studying. This feature is particularly important if you do not have native speakers near you that you can speak with.

Allows You to Hear the Language

You will not learn English if you do not hear the language being spoken. Even an online English lesson needs to include some listening exercises. You should be able to listen to a variety of conversations, and they should be conducted by expert English speakers. You cannot learn the language well through text-based English lessons alone. You must hear it being spoken.

Look for Accountability

If you are going to pay your hard earned money for an online English school, you need to make sure that you will finish the program being able to speak English. Look for a program that keeps you accountable, because you will find there are times when you do not want to work on your lessons.

You need to be logging on regularly, daily if possible, to work on your English lessons. You also need to be assigned activities like conversing with a native speaker or listening to a book on tape that is read in English. These types of assignments will help you learn the language much quicker. Without accountability of some sort, you are likely to slack in your attempt to learn the language, and you will end up wasting your money on the course because you will not follow through with what is required.

Look for a Grammar Component

While immersion is the best way to learn a language, and you should choose an online English school that immerses you in the language as much as possible, you also need to learn the science behind English. Make sure you choose an English school that will teach you grammar rules. Yes, English has many rules and many exceptions to those rules, but if you do not know the grammar rules, you are going to struggle to learn the language.

Allows You to Speak the Language

Another important part of learning a language is learning to speak it. The best English schools will give you the chance to practice the pronunciation of the language you are trying to learn. This will require a microphone and voice recording capability on your computer, but if you have this, try to find a language school that will let you practice speaking the language and give you feedback on your pronunciation.

By the time the twentieth century had reached half of its deemed cycle; there was already a clear distinction between people who went to colleges and universities, and those who went to technical schools to achieve their career needs. The people who attended these technical schools usually enrolled into schools called trade schools or they simply entered programs as apprentices to learn a specific trade. However, as we are marching into the twenty first century, there is another hybrid that has been developed. This seeks to add the skills of the technical school with the virtues of the universities and the four year colleges. This hybrid is known in many parts as the career college.

There are certain distinguishing features to the career colleges. For instance, they offer a well balanced series of fundamental courses like English, Mathematics and the sciences. Even while they do this, they are still more concerned with the courses that will orient you to integrate with your desired career line or field. They are acutely aware of the student’s need to get the required skills to allow him pr her pursue the desired field and actualize it in the time given.

The reason for the career colleges being so popular is not so far-fetched. In the past, employers have always harped that they are looking for individuals who are able to work under certain conditions with the required skills. When it comes to the kind of skills that the employers need to be impressed with, the college boys are usually the next bet. However, the advent of the computer age left the employers with the daunting task of having to teach the new recruits the computer from scratch. Where they could find people who were computer literate, that is the high school boys and the ones from the technical school. They found that they did not have their fair share of the math and the sciences. This was the funny situation until career colleges came into the scene and restored the much needed balance.

One advantage to the career college is the financial side to it. Career colleges are relatively cheaper than the others and also, they also have a reduced scheme of work. If you combine these variables, you will find that the average student pays lesson career colleges than the other colleges. In career colleges, you get to do two years’ worth of studying in comparison to eh four of the regular colleges. Also, they make their courses so streamlined that you do basically only the courses that are of relevance to your selected career. It has been found that students learn better when they do not have the feeling that what they are stuffing is “useless”. Therefore most electives are disposed off and the main courses of interest are harped upon.

These are only a tip of the iceberg of the many unique opportunities offered by the career colleges. If you feel this is just the thing for you, you will need to perform some research by way of online snooping around and random clarification.

How to find a Private Tutor for yourself or anyone else

If you are struggling with your studies whether it is for GCSE, A’ Level or at degree level, now-a-days there are many private tutors who can help you through your struggle. Choosing a private tutor can be a daunting task because you have to find the one that is just the right for you. It’s just like interviewing someone for a job post. Here are few hints and tips to look out for when trying to find a private tutor.

1) Always do an internet search and find out tutors list in your area. Note down their name and number. Also register your interest in few tuition agencies.

2) Before calling a private tutor, make a list of things to ask to the tutor. Also make a list of things that the tutor may ask you.

3) List things to ask for tutor such, tutor’s background and qualifications, years of experience, any references available? Is the tutor CRB checked?

4) List of things that your tutor should ask you and you should have it ready for the tutor. The subject you require help in. What is the level or background of your subject such as A’ Level or GCSE and also which exam board such as AQA, OCR etc.

5) Always ask the tutor for a tester lesson and enquire about any discount rate.

6) When booking the first lesson, ask the tutor about the material that he/she would bring with them and what should you have ready when they come such as books or notes etc.

7) Never book lesson in bulk at first instance. Always check the tutor for first lesson and see if you are comfortable with their style of teaching.

8) Use your first lesson effectively. Make a list of things that you do not understand about the subject that you are seeking help for.

9) Ask the tutor for how do they plan to help with your studies.

10) Ask the tutor to assess your current level and knowledge in your subject. A good tutor should do that anyway.

11) Ask the tutors if their services would be available online?

12) A good tutor should bring all the paperwork with them, should come on time and appear very understanding and presentable.

13) A good tutor should have your file with your progress report, preliminary assessment and tuition plan ready.

14) A good tutor should make you feel comfortable and lets you enjoy the art of learning.

15) A good tutor should make your struggle easy and helps you achieve in your targets.
